JADE Master Terminal is a true "set and forget" system.
The system installs from a CD using an automated setup program and
the software can be up and running in a matter of minutes.
JMT uses the high-speed object-oriented JADE engine to power its
integrated capabilities, this technology platform allows for effortless
integration with existing legacy systems, elegant deployment options
using in-built thin client software, web services and full HTML
web page support.
In addition, the technology delivers the following key benefits:
- No issues with Database size other than disk space consumed.
We have ports operating systems equivalent to a 15 million TEU container
operation spread across an entire country in 11 terminals, the database
for this customer is more than 160GB yet operates as quickly as
the day it was installed.
- No Database Administrators required. JMT comes complete with
automated scheduled backups, disaster recovery using synchronized
databases on backup hardware automatically maintained by JADE and
administrative tools for object space recovery if required. Our
ports typically only erase objects when they have disk space issues,
there is no performance penalty for storing data for long periods.
- No deployment issues. Updates to the system can in some cases
be performed whilst the system is on-line and running. The JADE
object manager manages system software deployments to all of the
clients connected to the system fully automatically.
- Reduced Technical Support staff. JMT has no administrative requirements
for the system when running other than backup management and hardware
services. If the JADE Care24 service is optioned even this is managed
by Jade.
- JADE Care24 Managed Service. Jade offer a range of hardware and
software support and monitoring options through the JADE Care24

- Relational Database Services. No system stands alone, and JMT
is no exception to that rule with the system proving automated updates
of relational databases for statistical and data-warehouse activities
separate to the main operational database. JMT can automatically
manage a relational database to keep it as up to date as required.
- Integrated. JADE Master Terminal is one system, using one set
of source code to manage all systems, therefore the updates are
well proven in all sites and our support costs are driven down in
comparison with other system's of this complexity.

Port Nelson have recently upgraded their existing Teklogix narrow band RDT
equipment with state-of-the-art heavily ruggedized laptops running the Jade
Smart Thin Client Jade Master Terminal application using Telecom's CDMA
cellphone cellular network for communications to and from the devices.
Geoff Shepard from Port Nelson states they are extremely impressed with the
minimal bandwidth being used by the JMT application's smart forms which are
all touch-screen high definition colour units mounted in the terminal's
fork lift machinery, with bandwidth consumption well under expectations
making this a very cost-effective option to maintaining your own 802.11 or
narrow band radio data network. In addition, because the system is using
cellular encrypted telephone technology the signals are completely
unaffected by steel structures, the radio network is no longer Port Nelson's
responsibility.
Feedback from the machinery drivers' is overwhelmingly positive, with
workshops held at the port between staff and JMT developers to determine the
optimum screen layouts that fitted how they actually do their job.
