features
JADE Master Terminal's VTMIS core is a fully featured software
component that graphically manages vessel visits to busy ports.
The system has the following key features:
Integrated
All vessels that are defined within the VTMIS module, and are indicated
as having cargoes, can be worked using the Container or Warehousing
cores of JMT in the same package.
Movements, resources and updates are all automatically tied into
the JMT Invoicing functionality (if optioned) giving on-line real
time invoice line generation minimizing revenue leakage.
Information can be easily exported to update Web pages as required.
Visit Scheduling
Vessel visits can be simply created as far in the future as required,
tidal models are projected and arrival and departure movements can
be scheduled to take these into account automatically. Any number
of extra vessel movements between berths, wharves or harbors can
be scheduled and resourced, changing one impacts on how the others
are arranged.
Resourcing
All vessels can have a number of resources allocated to them, including
Water, Garbage collection, Warehouse berth preferences, Cranes,
Tugs, Pilot vessels and pilots, Stevedores (or longshoremen), Telephones,
Electricity etc. All resources are completely user-defined.
Tidal Model
Tidal ports have unique constraints surrounding vessel visits,
JMT's VTMIS module replaces the manual guesswork with firm facts,
figures and graphical representations of water depth, flow rates
and optimal times based on the class of the vessel. The tidal model
can also account for travel time down a channel and calculate an
overall arrival and departure scenario.
Graphical
The user interface to JMT's VTMIS is highly graphical and very
intuitive giving a very easily understood picture of berth usage
at any point in time, giving a clear view of your operation.

Port Nelson have recently upgraded their existing Teklogix narrow band RDT
equipment with state-of-the-art heavily ruggedized laptops running the Jade
Smart Thin Client Jade Master Terminal application using Telecom's CDMA
cellphone cellular network for communications to and from the devices.
Geoff Shepard from Port Nelson states they are extremely impressed with the
minimal bandwidth being used by the JMT application's smart forms which are
all touch-screen high definition colour units mounted in the terminal's
fork lift machinery, with bandwidth consumption well under expectations
making this a very cost-effective option to maintaining your own 802.11 or
narrow band radio data network. In addition, because the system is using
cellular encrypted telephone technology the signals are completely
unaffected by steel structures, the radio network is no longer Port Nelson's
responsibility.
Feedback from the machinery drivers' is overwhelmingly positive, with
workshops held at the port between staff and JMT developers to determine the
optimum screen layouts that fitted how they actually do their job.
