National Go By Bike Day supersized by Jade Software
Wednesday 12 February is National Go By Bike Day, which has been embraced by the team at Jade Software. Staff who choose to participate will leave their usual means of transport behind for the day as well as taking part in a number of other activities to raise funds for Bike On. Bike On is a charity that has been established to encourage school children to learn to ride bikes and be more active.
Spurred on by the promise of a healthy breakfast pack on arrival to the office, more than 60 members of staff will participate in this important initiative. Jade’s Managing Director David Lindsay will lead the charge, riding from his home to the Christchurch office in Burnside. “Participating in Go By Bike day is an example of Jade’s commitment to our people. Having happy, healthy and engaged staff is important for the success of our business and I am encouraged by the participation of so many of our staff,” David said.
The Jade Bike Week team have organised a full week of fun activities including riding or running a measured course, bike maintenance classes, wacky BMX races and spin classes – there will be something for everyone to enjoy. Regional offices in Dunedin and Auckland will also participate proving the collaborative spirit within Jade is alive and well.
Bike Wise is New Zealand’s national cycling programme, promoting cycling as an enjoyable, fun, healthy and safe transport mode. Bike Wise Month takes place in February each year and involves a festival of fun cycling events such as Big Bike Tune Ups and Go By Bike Day. In 2013 there was more than 700 events planned around the country, with almost 70,000 people participating.
Bike week supports Jade’s culture of promoting opportunities for staff to be healthy, resilient and engaged and is a perfect fit to support Jade’s X-Series program, designed to promote collaboration and spontaneous fun. The program offers a range of activities for staff, including, yoga, golf, pilates, boxing, spin, circuit, healthy eating and a learn at lunch program (for staff and partners, with a skilled facilitator). The team at Jade work hard, with an underlying sense of fun and delight in everything the team does. HRINZ recently recognised Jade’s HR Framework with a Merit prize.
Jade would like to thank those sponsors who have contributed to make Bike Week possible. Proud sponsors inculde Scotty Brown, Formthotics, Frucor, Fitness Canterbury, Pure Cafe Co, Mint Health & Fitness, and Liminal Apparel.
