Port winners will take the smart approach
Amidst challenging economic conditions and overcapacity issues for terminal operators in areas like the Middle East, analysts are predicting the winners will be those who can work closely with shipping lines to improve berth and port productivity.
A recent Journal of Commerce article recently pointed to terminal operators being squeezed by low volume growth and excess capacity, and suggested shipping lines and their port partners had to take a strategic approach to prosper.
“The smarter lines and terminals, who have excellent cost transparency, visibility and traceability, will come together to improve operating models and behaviours — and jointly rip cost out of the system for mutual gains.”
At the heart of achieving efficiencies is an effective terminal operation system, but how to do you select the right system to fit your needs. To help, we prepared an article for Middle East port operators that was recently published in the Terminal Operator Magazine, which you can read here.
