Shane Goodwin brings virtual reality to UX New Zealand
Yesterday Shane Goodwin, from our Christchurch-based UX team, was onstage at UX New Zealand ("The User Experience Conference For Legends") in Wellington, giving a presentation called Virtual reality: More real than virtual.
We didn't have a real photographer there, but luckily the world's virtual photographer, Twitter, was in full swing.
We've tinkered with both virtual reality (VR) and augmentmented reality (AR) in a few different ways lately. Our designers, developers, and of course UXers have have their hands on kit like Google Glass (remember that?), Oculus Rift, and Cardboard. There's a big difference between the two - either creating entirely immersive experiences or adding to what someone can already see.
But either way, it's all about the experience.
So we brought the VR experience to the UX New Zealand crowd, with Google Cardboard:
Like any good UXer, Shane (@shaneg_nz) is always thinking one step ahead. And if you saw him at UX New Zealand we bet you are, too.
