Sharing agile advice with Australia's project managers
Yesterday projectmanager.com.au published 'How to use agile in your project', advice from our COO and Australia GM, Craig Beveridge.
Craig's take on agile projects starts with securing business buy-in. Managers need to understand how going agile changes projects, and what benefits they can expect.
Possibly the most confronting change is the need to commit to a variable cost. Because discovery occurs incrementally, there’s no way to accurately estimate the cost of a solution upfront. The upside to this is that the end solution will be better evolved to reflect customer needs.
An agile approach can cover either the entire project, or just software development. Craig compares both options, helping project managers choose the better option for their environment. He also discusses the mix of people that a good agile project needs, and how to get started with agile.
