Jade shortlisted in NZTA Cycle Friendly Awards 2014
This year's NZTA Cycle Friendly Awards will be handed out in October, and Jade Bike Week is a finalist.
We're shortlisted for the CAN Cycle Friendly Commitment by a Business award, for "the company that has made significant efforts encouraging and supporting cycling by its staff, customers and clients over the past year".
Back in February, Jade Bike Week was our supersized take on National Go By Bike Day. Involving as many of our staff as possible, the week included spin classes, wacky BMX races, bike maintenance sessions, Strava rides, and a visit from national cycling celebrity Scotty Brown. All our New Zealand offices took part, with our Christchurch headquarters even hosting TV3's live Firstline broadcast on National Go By Bike Day.
The week also raised money for Bike On, a charity which makes biking accessible to kids who might otherwise not have the opportunity.
There are six other companies competing for the award, including ANZ, Beca Christchurch, and Shell. That's some tough competition, with the winner to be announced at a ceremony at the 2WALKandCYCLE Conference in Nelson.
Whatever the result, Jade Bike Week will be back in 2015.
