A bit about JADE's beginnings, the team behind the scenes, and the future we're excited about for JADE.
JADE is a unique tool for the construction of software applications, made by Jade Software Corporation. As an integrated solution programming with JADE means that in a single development environment you define the code and the database. This structure helps developers, (and those starting out in code) build and demonstrate complete working prototypes extremely quickly. This is how we believe programming should be!
JADE is ideal for those standalone departmental applications, which need to be built quickly and with a limited budget. But that’s just the start. At the core of JADE is an Object-Oriented database and Object-Oriented Language. This enables extremely complex applications to be tackled; complex data structures are easily defined and used.
JADE is being used in North and South America, Europe, Africa and Asia. It is being used by Banks, Building Societies, Insurance companies, and Ports. It is being used in Law Enforcement, the Health industry, agriculture and the retail sector. Many of these organisations have multiple software development teams and all say that their JADE teams are more productive than those working with other technologies.
The key is the integration. If a change is made to the database definition, for example, all the code elements which use that part of the database are identified and if possible changed. There is no separate database administration involved.
Using the Object-Oriented concept throughout the product reduces the need to translate the real world into a more abstract definition, that conventional database software operates with.
There is also a team of keen developers behind JADE at Jade Software who run courses, user groups and an open roadmap for all users to contribute into. When you use JADE, you become part of a global user community.
We have a sizeable team of talented engineers, technologists, architects, and product managers pushing the boundaries of JADE, boldly going where no developer has gone before.
Here you can read up on some of them.
John has been working with JADE since its release. One of his highlights so far is starting the first JADE Qual Group. John still gets a thrill at how excited people get when they are introduced to JADE for the first time. The one piece of tech John wished was real is teleportation. That could come in handy, don’t you think? Just hope it doesn't run out of batteries.
Hugh has worked across the business since 1986. Some of his greatest JADE highlights came between 1992 and 2000 when the team was building great new technology and punching well above its weight. Hugh is passionate about the hidden potential of JADE which is yet to be released. Watch this space. He would also love to get his hands on a Spore Drive too. Trekkies will understand.
Timothy has been with us for over two years. His biggest highlight so far is designing and implementing the JADE REST Client for the JADE 2020 release. He is really excited about helping clients run their JADE databases in containers and in the cloud. The one piece of tech Timothy wished was real is The Matrix. Who wouldn’t want their own simulated reality?
Hugh has been with us since early 2020. His biggest highlight so far is developing the JADE Timezone feature, which he designed and implemented himself. Hugh is excited about keeping JADE on the cutting edge side of new tech in the sector. If Hugh could be any character in a series it would be The Doctor. The ability of time travel and changing your identity... need we say more?
Heidi has been with us since 2014. One of her best moments was when she realised how lucky she was to join such an experienced, friendly team. Heidi is really excited about the number of new features in the pipeline for JADE. Her most treasured tech possession is her secondhand iPhone 8, as she uses it to talk to her parents who are on the other side of the world.
Hundreds of businesses across the world use JADE in critical aspects of their operations.
At Jade, one of our core values is 'Live for the future'. This normally means planning and focusing on our ambitions. But it also means we need to be prepared for any business interruption that is beyond our control. We created the Escrow Society as a business continuity measure to give you full confidence that the JADE platform will continue to function, come what may. With a full backup of the JADE source, the society keeps the future of your business in your hands, protecting your investment in your IT systems. For full information download the brochure below.
